Brome black spot needs action now12.00.00pm GMT Mon 16th Feb 2009 Liberal Democrat campaigner Andrew Aalders-Dunthorne, has called for urgent action for the Brome cross roads on the A140 close to the town of Eye. Earlier this month the A140 was closed at Brome when a car and an articulated lorry collided. Andrew commented:"This accident is in addition to another serious accident and three shunts that have happened recently"* "Any one who has used this busy junction, knows this is just the tip of the iceberg, with literally dozens of near misses happening regularly. However, these are never recorded!" Across Suffolk 304 people were killed or seriously injured last year, with an average of eight people being injured every single day on the County's roads. Mr Aalders-Dunthorne highlighted the opening of the Pulham 'crossroads' new round-about yesterday, which will dramatically improve road safety at another busy junction on the A140. "The local community fought long and hard for this vital safety improvement which is already proving to be a great success, and is potentially saving lives," Andrew commented. "The Brome junction (A140/B1077) is on the radar of Suffolk County Council, but I want it to be a real priority, we need a round-about to manage traffic flow in this area not another speed camera," concluded Andrew Andrew Aalders-Dunthorne, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich has launched a petition to call for the urgent review of the Brome A140 junction.
